The Energy Management Expert is the individual who has the knowledge, experience, and ability to manage energy use efficiently. The EGE is the professional who manages the use of energy efficiently by combining knowledge in the energy field (including environmental impacts of energy use) with management, economic-financial and communication skills, keeping himself/herself continuously and constantly updated on/updated with regard to evolving technologies, methodologies and energy-environmental regulations. The objective of the EGE is to improve the level of energy efficiency and/or to reduce primary energy consumption and climate-altering gas emissions related to energy use, to increase in quality and/or quantity the services provided however pertaining to/the rational use of energy. The candidate must demonstrate professional experience in energy management through a number of years commensurate with the type of schooling possessed and work experience referable to technical and/or managerial tasks in energy management.

Specifically, the professional profiles defined by the Standard are:

  • EGE industrial sector: specialized in industrial applications and production processes

  • EGE civil sector: specialized in civil, tertiary and public administration applications

For each profile, the UNI 11339 standard defines tasks, competencies, skills and knowledge. With certification, the professional is able to provide greater assurance to his or her clients, gain credibility and access the registers of professionals certified according to the UNI 11339 standard.
